Mini hull sales jump by a third in 2024

Russians have become more likely to buy hull insurance policies with reduced coverage. In 2024, sales of such policies jumped by 27% compared to 2023, according to calculations in the largest financial marketplace "Compare".
The average cost of mini-covers is significantly lower than policies with full coverage and varies from 2 to 10 thousand rubles, said Evgeny Fatyanov, head of partner relations in the direction of Kasko in "Compare". According to him, last year most often Russians bought protection in case of an accident caused by a driver not insured under MTPL.
In just six months from March to October 2024, Russians bought 6.8 million mini-covers, according to data from the National Insurance Information System (NISIS), submitted to the Russian Union of Auto Insurers (RIA).
The largest insurers have confirmed an increase in demand for mini-hull insurance in 2024. The increase in sales may be due to an increased interest in affordable insurance against the background of the rising cost of full hull insurance, says Artem Yakovlev, director of the Kasko domain at Ingosstrakh.
However, such products do not provide full coverage, emphasized RAMI. Therefore, it is necessary to find a balance between cheapening the policy and reducing the set of risks, because the latter leads to deceived expectations in an insured event.
The vast majority of them do not include, for example, the most common type of compensation - accidents at the fault of the driver, said the press service of SCC Auto.
