Developers at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology have created a system of active vibration suppression of laser guidance devices for drones weighing up to 5 kg. The introduction of the innovation will reduce the scatter of the laser beam by 20-30% and reduce the weight of drones by 40-50%.

"In the flight of a drone there are oscillations that are caused by wind, pressure differences, the work of propellers, engines and many other factors. To compensate for them, complex gyroscopic complexes are used, which leads to an increase in the weight of the devices, reducing their flight range and maneuverability. Our group proposed methods of active vibration suppression," - explained "Izvestia" project manager, a student of LFI MIPT Artem Pyankov.

According to him, the development includes detectors, fixing vibrations, and electric actuators, working in counter-phase and damping the emerging pulses. As a result, the system holds the equilibrium position of the laser guidance device.

As the designer explained, laser guidance is one of the popular methods of target designation in UAVs. In addition to military topics, the development may be in demand in laser communication systems and other areas where high accuracy is important.
