Migrants may be allowed to work in the police only 10 years after obtaining Russian citizenship. Such a bill will be submitted to the State Duma on January 28 by deputies of the faction "Just Russia - For Truth" headed by Sergei Mironov. The document was familiarized with "Izvestia".

It reports that Russia currently has a simple procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship, which is used by unscrupulous foreigners.

"Ethnic criminal communities, strengthened by administrative and other capabilities of authorized officials, pose a threat to state security, associated, among other things, with the possibility of using ethnic criminal communities by foreign intelligence services and radical extremist and terrorist organizations", - stated in the explanatory note to the bill.

It is also noted that in the current version of the federal law, a Russian citizen can be recruited to serve in the internal affairs bodies regardless of his or her beliefs and length of residence in the country. As explained to "Izvestia" Mironov, the initiative is aimed at changing this.

Earlier, on January 5, it became known that officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation will be able to independently decide on the administrative expulsion from the country of foreign citizens and stateless people for a number of offenses. Previously, this decision could be taken by judges and border guards.

Before that, on December 30, 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree, according to which migrants illegally staying in Russia will have to leave the country or settle their legal status by April 30, 2025.
