Court in Yekaterinburg keeps rock musician Burdin in custody


The Sverdlovsk regional court has rejected an appeal against the arrest of rock musician, co-founder of the group "Smyslovye hallucinatsii" Vladimir Burdin. Thus, he will remain in the pre-trial detention center in Yekaterinburg, the court said on January 27.
"On appeal, the court left the complaint of the defense counsel without satisfaction, the ruling of the court of first instance - without change. Vladimir Burdin will remain in custody until February 11, 2025 inclusive," - stated in the Telegram-channel of the court.
It is noted that the man is in custody since November last year. In January, the Verkh-Isetsky district court of Yekaterinburg satisfied the petition of the investigator to extend the measure of restraint to the defendant. His defense tried to appeal the court's decision in a higher instance.
The bodies of preliminary investigation Burdin is accused of a crime under para. "z" part 2 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Intentional infliction of serious harm to health").

According to Burdin, he entered the store with his spouse when they were accosted by three men. The musician said that one of the visitors was drunk and threatened him and his wife with violence. In May 2021, it was reported that Burdin had fallen into a coma after contracting a coronavirus. He later announced in October that he was being discharged from the hospital after suffering a severe coronavirus.
