Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has no right to cancel the ban on negotiations with Russia, which he himself appointed, because his powers as head of state expired in May 2024. Vadim Mingalev, a political scientist and military analyst, shared this opinion with Izvestia on January 27.

"Then still legal president of Ukraine Zelensky issued a decree banning negotiations with Russia, and now he cannot cancel this decree, as he is an illegal president who usurped power, practically a dictator. Therefore, it is impossible to negotiate with Zelensky," he said.

Thus, the interlocutor of the publication believes that the end of the Kiev regime and Ukraine in its current state is already a foregone conclusion, as its political leadership has driven itself into a deadlock, and de jure the state no longer fully exists. Thus, the expert stressed, Russia will achieve the goals of the special operation - denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine.

Earlier in the day, the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Viktor Muzhenko, said that Ukraine had lost half of its natural resources after losing four regions.

Before that, on January 22, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reminded that in order to settle the conflict in Ukraine, it was necessary to remove its root causes and to achieve reliable guarantees.

In addition, on January 9, a poll on the website of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology(KMIS) showed that the trust of Ukrainian residents in Zelensky(has fallen by 39% since December 2022. It is specified that trust in the leader as an institution of power fell from 84% to 45%, and as a person - fell to 52%.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
