The bitcoin rate began to fall sharply on Sunday, January 26, which caused concern among investors and traders. BitRiver financial analyst Vladislav Antonov told Izvestia about the reasons for the fall of the cryptocurrency.

According to the specialist, the decline in the bitcoin rate is due to the statement of US President Donald Trump, who called on OPEC+ to reduce oil prices. This statement caused a wave of uncertainty in global markets, which negatively affected all risk assets, including bitcoin.

"Theconflict between the US and Colombia, which started after Colombia refused to accept two US military planes with deported migrants, also contributed to the tension," Antonov explained.

According to him, the situation has somewhat stabilized after an agreement was reached between the US and Colombia, but the general uncertainty in the market remains. This is reflected in the synchronized fall of various asset classes, which points to deeper reasons for the market correction related to a general decline in risk appetite and possible concerns about global economic growth.

"Investors chose to move into more safe-haven assets such as the dollar and U.S. bonds instead of gold and bitcoin. This indicates that traders are looking for more stable and risk-protected investments amid uncertainty," Antonov said.

Another important reason for bitcoin's fall was a drop in futures on U.S. stock indexes. This was caused by the news that the artificial intelligence model from the Chinese company DeepSeek could upset the balance in the technological sphere, the expert said.

"According to the latest quotes, the pair BTCUSDT stabilized at $99 thousand. If January 27 does not end at the value at the mark of $105 thousand, the price pattern of revaluation on the daily timeframe will show itself with renewed vigor," - summed up Antonov.

Earlier, on January 9, Vladislav Antonov told "Izvestia" about the risks of bitcoin decline in January. According to him, the negative impact on the dynamics of cryptocurrencies had a negative impact on the reports about the mass withdrawal of Ethereum from steaking - more than 500 thousand ETH for the last month.
