- The SF called Poland's refusal to invite Russia to the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz a disgrace

First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov called the decision of the current Polish leadership not to invite Russia to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp "shameful" and disgraceful.
"Even the Germans, who bear the historical blame for what happened in Auschwitz, for these death camps, gas chambers, understand that it is nonsense when everyone participates except the country that liberated the whole of Poland," the senator said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru on Monday, January 27.
Dzhabarov recalled that in Poland there was only the Red Army, which liberated Auschwitz, and they now claim that it was done by "allied troops." However, "neither the French army, nor the American army, nor the British army were in Poland" and could not have done it in any way.
"I think that sooner or later all this will come back to bite, no matter how much they try to blot out history, they won't succeed," the senator concluded.
Earlier in the day, former German presidential candidate Max Otte was outraged by the Poles' decision not to invite Russia to the event. He reminded that it was the Red Army that liberated Auschwitz, the USSR took "the brunt of World War II," RT writes.

Also on January 26, Russian diplomats laid flowers at monuments to the victims of Auschwitz in Poland to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
On October 19, 2024, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin said that the refusal to invite a Russian delegation to commemorate the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz insults the memory of Holocaust victims. He added that Russia's exclusion from the commemorative events was motivated by Western countries' disagreement with Russia's policy.
On January 27, the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust is celebrated around the world. On this day in 1945, the Red Army liberated the largest Nazi death camp Auschwitz (German: Auschwitz).
