The International Football Federation (FIFA) has lifted the ban on transfers from the Moscow soccer club (FC) CSKA, the press service of the organization reported on January 27.

This became possible after the Dutch FC Heerenveen reported the repayment of debts from CSKA for the transfer of Nigerian striker Chidera Ejuke.

According to Heerenveen managing director Ferry de Haan, CSKA was able to pay the debt for the transfer of the foreign footballer.

"It was a long and complicated matter, <...> we were able to solve this problem," Sport-Express quoted him as saying.

Ejuke, now 27, played for CSKA from 2020 and left the team in July 2024. In 65 matches in the Army team the footballer scored 10 goals and gave eight assists.

Prior to that, on December 6, 2024, FIFA imposed a transfer ban on CSKA that was to last until the summer of 2026. According to the release, the ban began on November 14 and applied to the next three transfer windows. Restrictions were also imposed on Khimki and Kuban.

Earlier, on November 28, it became known that the Russian national soccer team was not among the participants of the five baskets for the draw for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) zone.

On February 28, 2022 FIFA and UEFA suspended national teams and clubs from the Russian Federation from participation in all competitions under the auspices of the organizations. As assured in the organizations, soccer will become "a vector of unity and peace between nations" in case the situation around Ukraine improves.
