Protesting students in Belgrade have started a 24-hour blockade of one of the busiest traffic junctions in the city. This was reported by the BBC Serbian service on January 27.

"Belgrade University students have begun a 24-hour blockade of one of Belgrade's busiest traffic interchanges as a new form of pressure on Serbian authorities to establish responsibility for the deaths of 15 people when a canopy fell at the Novi Sad train station on November 1," the piece said.

The day before, on January 26, students of the Serbian capital's educational institution in the social network X (former Twitter) published a video announcing the protest. In it, they promised not to block the entire highway, but only one section of it, writes Srbija Danas.

The train station canopy collapsed in Novi Sad on November 1 last year. As a result of the accident, 14 people were killed. Serbian authorities declared November 2 a day of mourning for the victims.

November 4, Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic resigned after the incident. According to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, this dismissal "was only the beginning," and the country will soon see a series of resignations.

After that, Serbian students and the opposition started protests in different cities of the country.
