The Spanish national team has extended the contract of coach Luis de la Fuente until 2028

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) extended the contract with the head coach of the national team, 63-year-old Luis de la Fuente, with whom the Spanish national soccer team won the European Championship-2024. This was reported on January 27 by the press service of the RFEF.

The agreement with the specialist is concluded until the end of the European Championship 2028, which will end in July. De la Fuente heads the Spanish national team since December 2022. During his career, the specialist also coached the youth national team of Spain.

In 2024, the Spanish mentor claimed the award for the best coach according to the International Federation of Football (FIFA), but lost in the voting coach of Real Madrid Italian Carlo Ancelotti. However, the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) awarded De la Fuente the title of the best coach of 2024 at national team level, Sport-Express adds.

Earlier in the day, former head coach of the Russian national soccer team Stanislav Cherchesov, along with his staff, left the post of coach of the Kazakhstan team. The country's Football Federation thanked him for his work and wished him further success in his career.

Before that, January 17, the head of Spartak Moscow German Domenico Tedesco resigned as head coach of the Belgian national soccer team. The reason for his resignation is unknown.
