Video hosting company Rutube records a slight decrease in the number of cyber attacks on its services in April. This was announced to journalists on Wednesday, April 9, by Sergey Kosinsky, Deputy General Director, head of the digital unit of Gazprom-Media Holding, which includes the platform.

Kosinsky recalled that in October last year, Rutube faced the largest cyberattack, its capacity was about 1 terabit per second.

"The attack was generated by a botnet network of hundreds of thousands of devices. But our protection infrastructure allows us to successfully cope even with such enormous loads, ensuring the availability of the service for tens of millions of viewers 24/7," he added.

At the same time, in April, the platform sees a decrease in the trend towards cyber attacks.

"If the video hosting service was subjected to 20 major cyber attacks in March, then only two minor attacks were carried out in the first week of April," the top manager noted.

Prior to that, Rutube was subjected to a massive DDoS attack in September 2024. Then the press service of the video service said that it had become the largest in the last two years.
