Politicians of different countries of the world should not hastily react to all statements made by representatives of the administration of US President Donald Trump and should be ready to defend their position. World Bank President Ajay Banga made such a statement, Reuters reported on January 27.

"I have dealt with Trump in the past. He is a very practical man, he understands numbers, he understands the benefits. You have to go to him and explain to him what you bring to the table. My only advice to everybody is don't rush to an answer or judgment," Banga told the agency.

Banga said policymakers should wait to see what policies the U.S. president will actually implement.

Earlier in the day, Politico called Trump's defiance of European Union (EU) heads of state a "cold shower" for European officials in Brussels. The publication recalled that not a single high-ranking EU representative was invited to the inauguration of the American leader, except for Italian Prime Minister George Meloni.

The day before, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said that Europe would face problems with Trump's return to the White House. He explained that he was referring to the US President's demand for European countries to increase defense spending.

Before that, on January 19, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel called on Europe to act more confidently when interacting with the American leader and unite their interests.

Earlier, on January 12, former commander of the US Army in Europe Ben Hodges said that the EU should not react to everything that Trump says. In his opinion, European countries should be confident in their capabilities.
