More than 70% of surveyed managers reported a shortage of specialists

Almost three quarters of Russian executives surveyed (74%) feel an acute (26%) or moderate (48%) shortage of specialists in their industry. This is stated in the results of the research of the job search service "Zarplata.ru" and analysts of the IT-college Hexlet, which were read by "Izvestia" on January 28.
The experts found out that to cope with this situation, managers most often resort to hiring specialists without experience (52%), offer positions to workers in related fields (38%) or hire students (30%).
More than half of respondents (57%) always pay attention to their education when selecting job candidates. The most indicative factors of applicants' qualification, according to the interviewed managers, are additional internships and practice during their studies (51%), level of education (48%), compliance of the educational direction with the requirements of the vacancy (47%) and to a lesser extent the prestige of the educational institution (20%).
In addition, 61% of respondents noted that the education of a potential employee is still not the main criterion for selection for a position, and only 22% make hiring decisions primarily based on the quality of education of applicants.
According to the survey, 60% of managers have a favorable attitude toward applicants who have graduated from specialized secondary education institutions, while 36% have a neutral attitude. More than a quarter (28%) do not see any difference between graduates of universities and colleges. In addition, 67% of respondents would gladly agree to hire a specialist with specialized secondary education, provided that he shows himself well at the interview.
