- The Russian military destroyed an AFU tank with an FPV drone in the border area of the Kursk region
An FPV drone of the Russian Army's North Group has destroyed a tank of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on January 27.
"In the course of reconnaissance activities in the border area of Kursk region, servicemen of the "North" group of troops with the help of a drone detected the movement of an AFU tank on the outskirts of the forest, the calculation of which was firing towards Russian units," the ministry said in a statement.
Having analyzed the received intelligence data, the fighters of the "North" made a decision to strike at the tank, and when the FPV drone hit, the enemy's equipment was destroyed.
Real-time objective control footage shows a combat drone attacking an AFU tank.
Earlier in the day, the crew of a Su-34 multifunctional supersonic fighter-bomber of the Russian Air and Space Forces (VKS) hit an AFU stronghold on the Kursk direction. The strike was carried out at night using aerial bombs with a universal planning and correction module (UMPK). Intelligence confirmed that the enemy's manpower and armored vehicles were successfully hit.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the President of the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
