A murder committed more than 20 years ago has been solved in the Irkutsk region


In Bratsk district of Irkutsk region, investigators have solved the murder of a man, which was committed almost 23 years ago. This was reported on January 27 by the press service of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia in the region.
It is established that in September 2002 in the village of Karakhun two men in a state of alcoholic intoxication came to an acquaintance in order to clarify relations. During the night the suspects beat him up. Fearing that the victim might contact the police, the next day the men took him to the bay of the Bratsk Reservoir and drowned him by tying a metal object to him.
A criminal case was opened on this fact under paragraphs "g, k" of part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, with the purpose of concealing another crime"), but in 2003 the preliminary investigation was suspended.
"In the course of a thorough study of criminal cases on crimes of past years, in November 2024, the investigation of the criminal case was resumed," reads the Telegram channel of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Irkutsk region.
As a result of verification and operative-search activities, those involved in the murder were identified. They were charged and a measure of restraint was chosen.
Earlier in the day, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk reported that the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation detained two suspects in the case of murder of 30 years ago. It was specified that the suspects would be taken to Vladivostok, where the crime was committed in 1995, to carry out the necessary investigative actions.
