The publishing house "Prosveshchenie" said that there were no violations in pricing

The publishing house "Prosveshcheniye" has provided comprehensive data on pricing of textbooks on Russian language, biology and history, published in the period of 2021-2022, which indicate the absence of violation of antimonopoly legislation. This was reported to "Izvestia" in the publishing house on January 27.

They specified that they are in an open and active dialog with the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS)

"The position of "Enlightenment" regarding the absence of violations of antimonopoly legislation in its actions remains unchanged. In connection with the decision announced by the FAS of Russia, the publishing house is currently studying the issue of further steps aimed at defending its position," the company added.

In addition, they explained that on the initiative of the FAS since 2021 the system of antimonopoly compliance is applied, within the framework of which the trade policy regulating the price and sales policy operates. Also, since 2023, the policy of formation of production costs for determining the estimated price of textbooks has been applied. As a result of the measures taken, the publishing house managed to keep textbook prices down in 2023-2024, despite the increase in the cost of printing services and the rise in prices for paper, cardboard and inks. In addition, the cost of state textbooks on Russian history and world history for grades 10-11 was reduced by 20% compared to previous textbooks on the subject.

Earlier in the day, the Federal Antimonopoly Service reported that Prosveshchenie had set monopolistically high prices for school textbooks. The service noted that the publishing house has a dominant position in the markets of publishing school textbooks in the subject lines "Russian language", "history", "biology". The company is expected to transfer more than Br2 billion of illegally obtained income to the budget.
