A criminal case has been opened over the discovery of an explosive substance in the possession of a resident of the Lazo district in the Khabarovsk Territory. The man faces a penalty of imprisonment for up to eight years.

Criminal investigation officers seized a loose substance similar to gunpowder from a 60-year-old man. He stored it illegally in his shed.

The expert examination showed that it is hunting smokeless gunpowder of industrial production with a total weight of about 130 g. The suspect himself claims that he found the can of gunpowder in the forest near the village of Mukhen about 20 years ago. He decided to keep the find and use it for personal use.

The suspect has been given a non-departure undertaking. The gunpowder was seized and placed in safe custody. After the court decision on the case, the explosive substance will be destroyed, writes IA AmurMedia.

The Interior Ministry specified that the citizen, without proper authorization, independently manufactured and stored explosives in his apartment. According to the conclusions of a specialist of the ECC of the regional Department of Internal Affairs of Russia, this explosive belongs to the class of pyrotechnic compositions.
