Former Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili is not interested in American leader Donald Trump in the context of the fight against Russia in the Transcaucasus. Now the US president will prefer other issues, besides, he realizes that Zurabishvili was "on the team" of his opponent and predecessor Joe Biden. This opinion was shared with Izvestia on January 27 by Stanislav Tarasov, an expert on the problems of the Middle East and the Caucasus.

The Hill reported the day before that Zurabishvili is seeking access to Trump. According to the media outlet, she is trying to convey to him the idea that Washington should fight back against Moscow, which allegedly uses Georgia "as a playground."

"Zurabishvili was always considered a client of France, she was patronized by [the country's president Emmanuel] Macron, but they lost in Georgia. And then the Americans took her in to somehow pressure and influence the current Georgian government. But the problem for them is that the Georgian government is not pro-Russian. They claim that they are ready to integrate into NATO, the European Union, they work in the Western paradigm," Tarasov commented.

According to him, Zurabishvili is currently trying to transfer her defeat in the Georgian presidential election, which took place in December, to the zone of confrontation between Russia and the United States. Thus, the interlocutor of the publication believes, the former head of state discredits herself as a politician.

"Trump, of course, will never accept her, he does not need her. This is an attempt to be in the news. <...> But soon this dust, the effect of the information splash will fade away, because there is no practical return behind it, that's all. Attempts to appear in the media, caused by the fear of finally losing any influence. This is a demonstration of satellite mentality, they can't do anything themselves," the political scientist summarized.

He added that Trump is currently solving a number of other tasks, and when he moves on to the situation in the Transcaucasus, it is with Russian President Vladimir Putin that he will conduct dialogs. Among other things, the fact that Zurabishvili supported the U.S. Democratic Party in the person of presidential candidate Kamala Harris and expected her victory rather than Donald Trump's leadership plays a role, the expert concluded.

Earlier, on January 12, media reported that Zurabishvili will promote ideas about the need for war between Georgia and Russia at various conferences as a fellow of the U.S. McCain Institute.

It was noted that Zurabishvili plans to allow the former French intelligence agent to travel around the world and promote at "scientific conferences" justifications of past wars and the need for Tbilisi to "attack Moscow again." The day before, the former Georgian president said that Tbilisi has many partners in the form of the European Union and the United States, which will help the republic to "break out of Russia's claws. "

In the last months of her term, Zurabishvili refused to step down as president, despite the outcome of the vote. For example, she disagreed with the result of the parliamentary elections and demanded a re-run. Against this backdrop, protests are taking place in the country.
