Dmitry Gusev, a deputy of the Just Russia - For Truth party (SRZP) and first deputy chairman of the State Duma Control Committee, has called on Rospotrebnadzor to check the legality of the sale of candy products of the Ukrainian company Roshen on marketplaces.

It is indicated that the company belongs to former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko (it is a member of the association included by Rosfinmonitoring in the list of those involved in extremist activity or terrorism). However, the product card in online stores indicates that the confectionery's producer country is Kazakhstan.

"We urge to conduct a check on the legality and safety of the sold sweets. And if the facts are confirmed, immediately remove them from the online display," - written in the Telegram-channel of the Deputy.

According to Gusev, these products may be dangerous to health, as they may contain the toxic substance benzopyrene, which is banned in Russia. He noted that according to Rospotrebnadzor, in 2013 the import of the products into the country was banned due to the detection of dangerous substances.

The MP also added that it was necessary to develop a unified policy preventing the subsequent supply and sale of Ukrainian goods to the territory of Russia.

In October last year, Rospotrebnadzor suspended the activities of the Sokol confectionery factory, where sugar-free marshmallows were produced. The agency said in a statement that an inspection was organized with regard to the confectionery factory. The sale of marshmallows "Classic" and "Giselle" is suspended in retail chains "VkusVill", LLC "Lenta" and X5 Group.
