The cost of CMTPL insurance policies will change in Russia from January 27

From January 27, the boundaries of the tariff corridor for compulsory motor TPL insurance for some types of transport will be extended, as the Bank of Russia announced earlier. According to the Central Bank's instruction, the price corridor has been extended by 20% for motorcycles and trucks with a permitted maximum weight of 16 tons, and by 11.57% for public transport (trolleybuses, streetcars, buses).
According to the regulator, the expansion of the tariff corridor of CMTPL insurance is due to the high unprofitability of these categories of transport. Thus, small trucks are more often guilty of accidents with a maximum damage of Br400 thousand, while the amount of damage from accidents caused by motorcycle drivers has increased by 32%.
From January 27, MTPL will become more expensive for car owners who take out a "multidrive" policy (without limiting the number of drivers allowed to drive). According to the Central Bank, such contracts account for less than 2% of the total number of policies.
In a number of regions, the values of the territorial coefficient (CT), which affects the cost of the policy, have been updated. In 18 regions where the average cost of classic CMTPL insurance policies was 31.8% lower than the national average, the coefficient values have been increased. They were reduced in 21 regions where the average cost of policies was 17.1% higher than the national average.
According to Kommersant, territorial coefficients were reduced for a number of cities. For example, in Kazan - from 1.8 to 1.7; in Barnaul - from 1.56 to 1.48; in Nizhny Novgorod - from 1.64 to 1.56; in Krasnoyarsk - from 1.64 to 1.56; in Volgograd - from 1.24 to 1.21; in Chelyabinsk - from 1.88 to 1.77. A single coefficient (0.68) for new regions has also been introduced for the first time.
January 20 in the State Duma reported on the introduction of a bill that provides for an increase in the limit of insurance payments for CMTPL insurance. Thus, the document proposes to increase the limit of insurance payments under CMTPL insurance from Br500 thousand to Br650 thousand in terms of compensation for injury to life and health of victims and from Br400 thousand to Br520 thousand in terms of property damage.
