Media reported on the readiness of the British military to detain Russian ships

The British military is ready to detain Russian ships off the UK coast. This was reported by the British newspaper Express on January 26, citing sources.
"British rapid deployment troops are ready to board and seize Russian ships off the coast if there is evidence that they damage underwater pipelines and cables," the publication said.
According to the author of the material, the U.S. urged Britain to strengthen control over the coast because of the threat of attack on critical infrastructure, which allegedly comes from Russia. According to the assessment of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the threat to undersea communication cables of the UK is currently characterized as "significant".
It is noted that the UK's High Readiness Task Force regularly trains for this type of event.
"But of course this would require a political decision at the highest level, and this would probably be done on a case-by-case basis," the newspaper quoted a source as saying.
Earlier, on January 23, the Russian Embassy called statements by the British Defense Ministry about alleged threats to the country's underwater communications from the Russian side untenable. It noted that Russia had never issued such threats.
Prior to that, on January 20, military expert Alexei Leonkov said that NATO countries' attempts to block the Russian Navy in the Baltic Sea would be a pretext for war, for which the North Atlantic Alliance, unlike Russia, is not ready.
The West regularly stirs up hysteria among its citizens by warning of an allegedly imminent NATO war with Russia. At the same time, Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that there is nothing of the sort in the country's plans, but that it is ready for any scenario.
