The issue of introducing visa-free regime in all countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is not "ripe" yet. This was stated by Secretary General of the organization Nurlan Yermekbayev on January 27.

According to him, the issue of visa facilitation is on the agenda of tourism administrations, ministries of interior and migration services.

"On visa-free regime within the whole Organization, the issue is not ripe yet, but the work on liberalization of visa regimes is one of the tasks, which is formulated in the action plan of tourist administrations," Yermekbayev told RIA Novosti.

He added that many SCO countries have already concluded agreements on visa-free travel.

Earlier, on January 3, Yermekbayev said that in 2025 the SCO's work will be aimed at promoting peace, security and development in the organization's space. He noted that he personally has the task of establishing the work and efficiency of the SCO secretariat, the main executive body of the organization.

The SCO was established on June 15, 2001. The members of the organization are Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, India, Iran and Belarus.
