The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) warned New Yorkers about the beginning of large-scale exercises to eliminate the consequences of nuclear incidents. This was reported by the press service of the agency.

"The exercises will not pose any danger to residents of the area; the public should not be alarmed by the activities associated with the exercises, including the presence of military personnel and aircraft, as well as people in protective gear," the statement said.

The exercises will continue through Jan. 31 in the vicinity of Schenectady, Albany and Saratoga, N.Y., according to the department. The Department of Defense, Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), FBI and Department of Homeland Security will participate.

The events will be closed to the public and members of the media.

As recalled in the agency, similar exercises are held by the U.S. government regularly every two years.

Before that, on January 18, NNSA head Jill Hruby said that the United States had completed the deployment of modified B61-12 gravity bombs on the territory of Europe. She also emphasized the strength of the strategic partnership between Washington and London on the issue of nuclear weapons.

Earlier, on October 9, 2024, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the level of nuclear danger in the world has seriously increased due to the West's actions and Russia urges the United States to realize the possible consequences.
