China's first corgi police dog was deprived of year-end treats because he slept on the job. This was reported by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) on January 26.

The dog, nicknamed Fu Zai, has become an Internet sensation. The Public Security Bureau of Weifang City District published a video that reported that the 2024 corgi policeman had completed many security tasks and raised the credibility of service dogs.

It is noted that the dog was rewarded for this with a red leash, treats and toys.

"But because of your recent behavior, fatigue on the job and even urinating in your own bowl, we had to fine you and confiscate snacks as punishment," SCMP quotes a bureau spokesman addressing the animal.

As the publication specifies, Internet users supported the corgi policeman and demanded the return of his "bonus". Then the Weifang Public Security Bureau assured that Fu Zai received a "generous gift set for the Lunar New Year".

Earlier, in April 2024, it was reported that China's Weifang metropolitan area had the country's first corgi policeman on duty. It was noted that the dog performs well in training due to its unique advantages, such as its love of food.
