The fourth-generation nuclear-powered submarine cruiser Arkhangelsk of the Yasen-M project has arrived at the permanent basing point of the Northern Fleet (NF). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 27.
The commander of the cruiser, Captain of the First Rank Alexander Gladkov reported that the crew had completed the inter-base passage in full, the material part of the ship was in good working order, the personnel was healthy and ready to fulfill the assigned tasks.
On behalf of the Commander of the Northern Fleet, Vice-Admiral Konstantin Kabantsov, Vice-Admiral Anatoly Kovalenko, Commander of the Northern Fleet Submarine Forces, congratulated the ship's crew on its arrival at the permanent home base. He expressed confidence that the crew of the Arkhangelsk nuclear submarine will strengthen Russia's defense capability with dignity and high quality.
"For the city, for the base point, a new ship is like a new sprout of life, which will give continuation to the development of both the city and the entire base point. Because new, this ship will serve for a very long time," said Vice Admiral Kovalenko, commander of the Northern Fleet submarine forces.
The words of farewell to the crew of the cruising submarine on behalf of the shipbuilders were conveyed to the crew of the cruising submarine by the representative of the JSC "St. Petersburg Malakhit Marine Engineering Bureau", Russian Navy veteran Alexander Fedotenkov, and the abbot of the Voskresensk Novodevichy Convent of St. Petersburg Abbess Sophia handed over to the commander of the submarine an icon of St. Michael the Archangel consecrated by Metropolitan Varsonofiy of St. Petersburg and Ladoga.
"The crew took part in all the trials from the very beginning, starting with the mooring trials. After the mooring trials we moved on to the factory sea trials. And at the end of the factory sea trials, accordingly, we came to the state trials of the ship. The ship turned out to be good, of course, it is new. It is the most modern of the four ships that were built, because it has already taken into account all the comments that were identified on the previous three ships," Gladkov shared.
In the near future, the crew of the Arkhangelsk nuclear submarine will have to work out the tasks of the training course, after which the ship will join the permanent readiness forces of the Northern Fleet.
Earlier, on December 27, the Defense Ministry reported that the Arkhangelsk nuclear submarine cruiser of Project 885M Yasen-M joined the Russian Navy. The submarine handover ceremony took place at the Sevmash plant of the United Shipbuilding Corporation.
On December 21, it was reported that the Arkhangelsk nuclear submarine had completed all tests. The program was carried out in accordance with the schedules that were agreed with the RF Ministry of Defense.
A day earlier, Chief of the Russian Navy Moiseyev reported that the nuclear submarines "Knyaz Pozharsky" and "Arkhangelsk" will be handed over to the Navy in the near future. At the same time, he specified that the need to have such vessels in the fleet is dictated by the need for effective and modern weapons, which are carried by strategic and multipurpose submarines.
In addition, on December 8, it became known that Western countries in vain underestimate the submarines of Project 885M, as they are able to cover long distances while remaining completely invisible. They can carry hypersonic Zirkon cruise missiles, which are capable of overcoming any missile defense system (BMD) and inflicting "almost biblical-level destruction."
