The Donbass Dome system intercepted 165 UAVs over Donetsk and Makeyevka in a week
Over the past week, the DonbassDome airspace defense and electronic warfare (REB) system intercepted 165 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over Donetsk and Makeyevka. This was reported by the FSB Directorate for the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) on January 27.
It is specified that a Ukrainian strike drone of the airplane type with a warhead was intercepted, which was aimed at the region's critically important water pumping station, which provides water supply to several districts of Donetsk.
Also, a Ukrainian multi-rotor UAV armed with an improvised explosive device was intercepted in residential neighborhoods in the Kirovsky district, while an FPV reconnaissance drone was hit in the Kievsky district.
Explosive technicians of the Federal Security Service of Russia together with colleagues from the Russian Emergencies Ministry department with the help of special technical means undetalized the UAVs, seized their component parts and explosive objects for further destruction at a specialized testing ground.
Earlier, on January 13, the Donbass Dome system intercepted 208 UAVs over Donetsk and Makeyevka during the week. It is specified that a terrorist operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to blow up a gas main near a school was disrupted in the Kirovskyi district of Donetsk.
The AFU has been shelling Russian territory on a daily basis amid a special operation to defend Donbas, the start of which was announced by Moscow on February 24, 2022.
