One person killed and eight injured in nightclub shooting in U.S.

One person was killed and eight others were injured in an attack on a nightclub in the US city of Amarillo, Texas. This was reported on January 26 in the police of the city.

"At approximately 2:05 a.m. (11:05 a.m. Moscow time) on January 26, 2025, the Amarillo Emergency Communications Center received numerous calls to 911 with reports of gunfire. An eyewitness reported that a vehicle pulled up to the entrance of an outdoor nightclub and an unknown person opened fire into the crowd with a rifle," according to a press release from the Amarillo Police Department.

After firing several bullets, the offender reportedly got into a vehicle and fled the scene. Law enforcement officers later caught up with the vehicle and detained the three men inside. The shooter was identified as Robert Kenny Knox, 22. Two more people in custody - the driver and a backseat passenger - are 21 and 22 years old, respectively. All three were taken to the department for questioning

The preliminary cause of the shooting was a conflict at the bar. The suspects left the establishment, but then returned in a vehicle and opened fire on people.

One of the victims, 25-year-old John Love Louima, died at the hospital due to multiple gunshot wounds. His family has already been notified of the tragedy.

On January 23, a shooting at a high school in the US city of Nashville left one student dead and another injured. Police said that after the incident, the shooter shot himself.

Earlier, January 2, it was reported that in the nightclub Amazura in New York, located in the borough of Queens, there was a mass shooting, which injured at least 11 people. It is noted that two suspects were involved in the organization of the shooting.
