Media reported a five-day haul of NATO armored vehicles by rail in Greece
Hundreds of armored personnel carriers were transported for five days to Bulgaria from the port of Alexandroupolis in northeastern Greece by rail. This was reported by the Greek news portal Pronews on January 25.
According to Hellenic Train, the Alexandroupolis-Ormenio-Orestiada rail service will be interrupted from January 21 to 25 due to the transportation of "commercial cargo."
The portal noted that one of the trains carried armored vehicles, which is a large-scale test of NATO's Rapid Reaction Force, which aims to assess the speed and effectiveness of troop deployment.
Earlier, on January 19, the media learned about the transit through the Czech Republic of the British military to participate in NATO exercises. It is specified that about 300 servicemen on 100 units of equipment will cross the territory of the country. It is noted that the movements will take place at night or in the early morning hours and will be completed by January 26. The columns will arrive from Germany through the border crossing.
January 13, it became known that during the NATO exercise Steadfast Dart 2025, starting today at seven firing ranges in Romania, the deployment of new reaction forces will be practiced. Their task is to quickly strengthen the eastern flank of the alliance. The maneuvers will involve about 10 thousand military from nine NATO member countries, 17 naval assets, more than 20 aircraft and 1.5 thousand units of equipment.
Before that, January 3, it was reported that the UK will send 2.6 thousand troops and 730 pieces of equipment to the NATO exercise Steadfast Dart, which will be held from January to February in Bulgaria and Romania. It was noted that the UK's 1st Division would be in command of all ground forces participating in the maneuvers.
