War correspondents want to give an early retirement pension

Military correspondents are to be given the right to early retirement. Such a social guarantee will be granted to male journalists when they reach the age of 55 and to women from the age of 50.
As "Izvestia" found out, such a bill has been prepared for submission to the State Duma by the LDPR faction headed by Leonid Slutsky.
"Thanks to their work, the events taking place on the territory of Ukraine and new regions are covered objectively, and Russian citizens promptly receive reliable information. Working in such conditions is fraught with danger, risking the life and health of correspondents who, fulfilling their professional duty, strive to show the real picture of the events taking place," reads the explanatory note to the bill, which Izvestia has.
It notes that in 2024 alone, three Russian journalists were killed in the zone of a special military operation, and as many were seriously injured.
"Due to the special nature of such work, it is necessary to provide the specified category of persons with a decent standard of living and compensation for the consequences of changes in their material and social status in case of injury to health," the document emphasizes.
In this regard, the bill proposes to grant the right to early appointment of insurance pension to men upon reaching the age of 55 years and women upon reaching the age of 50 years, if they have worked for at least three years and two years respectively as a journalist in special conditions and have an insurance record of at least 20 years and 15 years.
Confirmation of the terms of stay in special conditions will be the editorial assignment of the registered media or accreditation of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
"Last year alone, three Russian journalists died on the fields of the NWO, three more were seriously injured, but, thank God, survived. This year we lost the war correspondent Alexander Martemyanov. A glowing memory! Therefore, we consider it important to provide journalists working in special conditions - martial law, in areas of hostilities, armed conflicts, covering counter-terrorist operations - with a decent standard of living and compensation for the consequences of changes in their material and social status in case of injury," Leonid Slutsky explained to Izvestia.
Earlier, on November 30 last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law on the budget of the Pension and Social Insurance Fund for 2025-2027, according to which the social pension will be indexed by 14.75%. After indexation, its amount will be 15,456 rubles on April 1, 2025. In addition, insurance pensions will be increased by 7.3% on January 1, 2025.
