Sobyanin spoke about helping animals in the Moscow Zoo

The Moscow Zoo is developing scientific activities and cooperation with foreign colleagues. This was announced by the mayor of the capital Sergey Sobyanin in his Telegram-channel on Sunday, January 26.

According to him, zoologists are actively engaged in the study of rare species of animals, participate in expeditions, as well as recreate artificial populations, notes the agency of city news "Moscow".

So, in 2024, employees of the capital's zoo in Altai observed snow leopards and manulas. In addition, from the Kuril Islands they brought chicks of the largest owl - fish owl to create an artificial population. Zoologists also studied the diet of small potato primates, monitored the health of saigas in Kalmykia, writes "Moscow 24".

Sobyanin pointed out that more than 10 trips were made for joint work with colleagues, including abroad. In particular, twice zoologists of the capital's zoo were in Pyongyang, where they took the animals of the Moscow Zoo, which were presented by Russian President Vladimir Putin, notes IA Regnum. Relations with China are also actively developing. For example, the staff of the capital's zoo managed to create exceptional conditions for the pandas living there, and as a result, a baby panda Katyusha was born. In December, the Director General of the Moscow Zoo Svetlana Akulova shared a video with panda Katyusha, who was having fun playing with a snowman. As 360.ru notes, first she destroyed it, and then tried to create it anew.

In the summer of 2024, a new pet appeared in the capital's zoo - a calf was born to a brown hyena, listed in the Red Book. More than 288 thousand Muscovites on the platform "Active Citizen" by voting chose a name for him.
