- Polish Foreign Ministry disappointed with the results of the Belarusian presidential election

Polish Foreign Ministry expressed disappointment with the results of the presidential election in Belarus. This is stated in a statement of the ministry on January 26.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland expresses disappointment with the presidential elections in Belarus, held today in violation of basic democratic procedures," says the Foreign Ministry.
The ministry reports that independent candidates were unable to participate in the elections due to the actions of the authorities. In addition, the statement says that the campaign was accompanied by repression of political opponents and intimidation of representatives of the Belarusian civil society.
"Under the conditions of widespread censorship and state propaganda, a large number of Belarusians did not have access to independent and reliable information. As a result of these actions, the society was actually deprived of the right to vote," the ministry said.
Polish Foreign Ministry urged Belarus to cooperate and comply with the UN and OSCE standards.
Earlier, January 26, international observers noted the transparency of the presidential election in Belarus. The purity of the voting process was confirmed by more than 4 thousand international observers, who worked at polling stations across the country.
Polling stations for the main voting in the presidential election in Belarus opened throughout the country on January 26 at 8:00. The turnout at 12:00 was 56.64%, so they can be recognized as valid. At 20:00 the voting ended. The CEC noted that over 6.9 million citizens had the opportunity to vote at more than 5.3 thousand polling stations. As of 18:00 Moscow time, voter turnout amounted to 81.5%. Of these, 41.81% voted early in the period from January 21 to 25.
