In 10-15 days, all gas and coal reserves will run out in Transnistria, so the energy crisis will turn into a catastrophic situation. This was stated by Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebryan on January 26 on Moldova 1 TV channel.

It is specified that the Moldovan authorities want to force the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic (TMR) to refuse Russia's assistance in overcoming the energy crisis.

According to Serebryan, Tiraspol is fomenting persistent rhetoric, which emphasizes the non-existent volumes of gas that Moldova would not like to transport to the left bank of the Dniester.

The deputy prime minister also said that a short-term solution to the energy crisis on the left bank of the Dniester is the use of coal from Ukraine. But Tiraspol gave no answer to Kiev's offer to supply coal cheaper or even free of charge.

"Chisinau has to find with external partners a solution to this situation as soon as possible. In a week there will run out of gas, for 10-15 days there will be enough coal to produce electricity, after that the situation will not be a crisis, but catastrophic. Losses are also incurred by economic agents due to the downtime of enterprises," the speaker said.

Earlier, on January 24, Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that the proposed scheme of Russian gas supplies to Transnistria threatens the country with destabilization. He also accused the Russian Federation of intending to destabilize the socio-political situation through the energy crisis.

On the same day, the president of the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic (TMR), Vadim Krasnoselsky, said that the situation in Transnistria against the backdrop of energy shortages remains difficult, with gas reserves sufficient for about two days. According to him, in some apartments the temperature has dropped to +10 degrees Celsius. And it is especially hard for people who need social support, including the elderly and the lonely.

On January 19, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that she considers gas supplies from Russia to Transnistria illegal because they violate anti-Russian sanctions. She also linked the assistance to the DMR to the condition of withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from there.

Gas supplies from Russia to Moldova and Transnistria stopped on January 1 due to Ukraine 's refusal to extend the agreement on transit through its territory and debts of the Moldovan side to Gazprom. In mid-January, it became known that Russia was ready to provide assistance to the DMR and start humanitarian gas supplies.
