Macron's rating fell to 21% and broke an anti-record

French President Emmanuel Macron's approval rating has fallen to 21%, the lowest since he took office. This was reported on January 25 by the newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche with reference to the results of the Ifop poll.
It is specified that in December 2024 Macron's rating was 24%.
According to the newspaper, Macron's support has significantly decreased among pensioners and senior citizens, who traditionally make up one of his main electoral groups. The president's rating among this category of voters fell by 10% compared to previous data.
Earlier, on January 3, the newspaper Le Figaro with reference to a social survey reported that 61% of the population of France are in favor of the president's resignation. In total, more than 1 thousand respondents took part in the study. In addition, 62% of respondents called Macron's rule authoritarian.
Macron on June 9 last year announced the dissolution of the National Assembly and early elections, which was won by a coalition of left-wing parties "New Popular Front" (NFP). Following the defeat of the presidential party, former French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal resigned. Macron then admitted that the decision to dissolve the National Assembly led to more instability instead of resolving the political crisis.
In early September, Michel Barnier's government took power in the country. After about three months, the parliament passed a vote of no confidence in him, and on December 13, the 73-year-old leader of the centrist Democratic Movement party, François Bayrou, was appointed the new prime minister of France.
For his part, Macron said during his address to the nation that he was not going to leave the presidency until the end of his term in 2027. He also reminded that he will not be able to run for re-election.
