Lukashenko warned Armenian authorities against flirting with the European Union

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan risks destroying his country by flirting with the European Union. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on January 26.
"They (Armenian authorities - Ed.) have started flirting with the European Union now, a most dangerous game. Calm it down there," BelTA quoted him as saying.
Lukashenko also added that Pashinyan has surrounded himself with enemies, and his actions could lead to the destruction of Armenia, as well as to the deterioration of relations with Russia. According to him, it is impossible to allow war in the Caucasus.
Earlier, on January 24, the Armenian Parliament's Commission on European Integration approved a draft law on the beginning of the republic's accession to the European Union. It is now expected to be considered at the parliamentary session from February 11-14 as part of the main agenda.
Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with the Armenian Prime Minister on January 17. The parties discussed the practical advantages of working together within the EAEU framework.
Prior to that, on January 9, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk pointed out that Moscow perceives this as the start of the procedure of Armenia's withdrawal from the EAEU. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized that it is hypothetically impossible to combine membership in the two associations.
In turn, the speaker of the parliament Alen Simonyan and Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan said that Armenia has no plans to leave the EAEU, as its membership gives the country economic benefits.
