Defense Ministry shows footage of Russian flags hoisting in Velyka Novoselka in the DNR

The Russian Armed Forces (AF) have planted Russian flags in the liberated village of Velyka Novoselka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). The footage is published on January 26 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

The ministry recalled that the work to liberate the settlement was carried out by units of the 5th Guards Independent Tank Brigade of the 36th Army and the 40th Guards Marine Brigade of the Vostok group of forces.

"After clearing Velikaya Novoselka of formations of the Kiev regime, the Guards soldiers installed the state flags of the Russian Federation and banners of their formations in all areas of the settlement," the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian Armed Forces liberated Velikaya Novoselka in the DNR earlier in the day. Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov congratulated the servicemen on the successful completion of the task.

In addition, earlier in the day it was reported about the liberation of the settlement of Zelenoye in the DNR. The fighters of the Center also defeated personnel and equipment of six brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of the settlements of Dzerzhinsk, Andreevka, Novoelizavetovka, Sribnoye, Novopavlovka and Shcherbinovka.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
