Pushkov says Western media coverage of the conflict in Ukraine has changed

The Western mass media have changed their rhetoric in covering the Ukrainian conflict. Russian Senator Aleksey Pushkov said on January 26.
"Indeed, a telling turn is taking place in the Western media - from a complete denial of the possibility of a Russian victory to a 'collective recognition' that Russia is winning," he pointed out in his Telegram channel.
According to the senator, objective reality on the frontline and US President Donald Trump's intentions to enter into negotiations with Russian leader Vladimir Putin contributed to this. Another reason for this he called the lack of faith in the ability of Ukraine and the West to change the course of the conflict.
Earlier in the day, the British newspaper The Times presented four possible scenarios for ending the conflict in Ukraine. The first scenario indicated a military defeat of Kiev. The second scenario specifies the division of Ukraine amid an end to support from the European Union (EU) and the United States. The third option suggests a "ceasefire" without any global changes. The last scenario considers a situation in which Ukraine was able to start negotiations with Russia "from a position of strength."
On January 24, Lucas Leiros, an analyst at the Center for Geostrategic Studies, said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (his term expired on May 20, 2024) had started talking about the possibility of a peace deal to cover up failures in the war zone. The expert noted that since the fall of 2022, Kiev has not responded to calls for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Before that, on January 23, Zelensky admitted the possibility of negotiations with Putin if Trump gives Ukraine security guarantees. According to him, the only question for him is what guarantees we are talking about, and he wants to have this understanding before the talks.
A day earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reminded that to resolve the crisis, it is necessary to address its root causes and secure guarantees.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which Russia announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region
