The resonance around the song "Sigma Boy" contributes to its successful promotion. This was stated to "Izvestia" on January 26 by the father of singer Betsy (real name - Svetlana Chertischeva) Mikhail Chertischev.

"When I was young, my parents were forbidden to listen to The Beatles, but my dad bought up records on the black market in spite of the prohibitions," he said.

Earlier, German politician and member of the European Parliament from the Volt Europa party Nela Riehl called for a ban on the Russian hit song "Sigma Boy" during the session, claiming that the song allegedly promotes pro-Russian views.

"Sigma Boy is a popular image that is often seen on Russian social media. It reflects patriarchal and pro-Russian views," she wrote on Instagram on January 23 (owned by Meta Corporation, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).

Ril said that through such songs Russia allegedly "targets" the Ukrainian language, music and cultural figures of Ukraine.

Earlier, on January 16, it was reported that the song "Sigma Boy" by Russian schoolgirls reached the seventh line of the Billboard international music chart. The track entered the ranking of dance and pop compositions.

Later, on January 20, it was reported that a high-budget video for the song "Sigma Boy" will be released. The directors will be brothers Anton and Ilya Chizhikov.
