An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 occurred near the coast of Kamchatka. The corresponding data were published on January 26 by the regional branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) on its website.

It is specified that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 48 km. The epicenter was located 107 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. There was no information about casualties and destruction.

Earlier, on January 19, two earthquakes and six weak aftershocks were recorded in the Yalta region on the South Coast of Crimea. The magnitude of the first shock amounted to 2.8. Another, weaker, shock occurred at 12:09 Moscow time. It had a magnitude of 2.0.
