The sunken tanker "Volgoneft-212" was filmed for the first time on video


The sunken tanker Volgoneft-212 in the Kerch Strait was filmed on video. The footage was published on January 26 by the Russian Emergencies Ministry in its Telegram channel.
"Divers of the Russian Emergencies Ministry with the help of teleoperated underwater vehicles continue to survey the sunken parts of the tanker, as well as collect oil products from the seabed along the coast," - stated in the message.
According to the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar region, published in Telegram-channel, parts of the ship are at a depth of 15-20 meters. At the moment the stern of the tanker is located 11 km from the coastline.
According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, localized emissions of oil products were recorded at 17 sites. In total, more than 303 km of the coast has been cleaned since the beginning of the work.
In addition, 2.3 thousand square meters were treated with sorbent in the Black Sea water area. In Krasnodar Region, over 174 tons of contaminated sand and soil were removed.
On the eve, January 25, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vitaly Savelyev reported that the specialists of the Morspassluzhba had fully completed pumping out fuel oil from the tanker "Volgoneft-239", which sits aground near Cape Panagia in the Krasnodar Territory. Now the tanks are being cleaned to saw the stern part of the vessel and utilize it. After that it will be possible to proceed to lifting its bow and Volgoneft-212.
Head of the Ministry of Natural Resources Alexander Kozlov said on January 23 that the Russian government will allocate 1.5 billion rubles to reimburse the expenses caused by the liquidation of the wreck of the two vessels. He said that Rosprirodnadzor would calculate the amount of damage caused to the ecosystem by the fuel oil spill in three months. Later this amount will be presented to the perpetrators of the pollution in court.
The tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2024 due to bad weather. The incident resulted in a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels, one person died. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group was set up to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the emergency.

The next day, it was reported that the fuel oil was moving northward along the Crimean coast, and Sevastopol declared a state of emergency of regional character, and later federal.
