Lukashenko reported about the arrival of 300 thousand Ukrainians in Belarus in 2024

In 2024, 300 thousand Ukrainians will come to Belarus. This was stated by President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko on January 26.

"Last year, 300 thousand people arrived in Belarus from Ukraine, secretly mostly crossing the border. When I was informed, I didn't believe it," he told reporters.

Lukashenko specified that some Ukrainians are going to Poland, while others - to Russia. Those who stay in Belarus, the authorities offer jobs, free education and health care, as well as a 50% discount on utilities.

The President also noted that the republic maintains certain contacts with the Ukrainian side.

On December 24, 2024, the mass media reported about Kiev's desire to stop the EU's support for Ukrainian refugees. It was reported that Ukrainians living abroad told journalists that they were not going to return until the situation in the country stabilizes.

Before that, on December 20, it was reported that the Finnish authorities were thinking about finding a legal way to return Ukrainian refugees to their homeland. At the same time, in 2024, the Finnish migration service was able to make only three official decisions on the return of Ukrainian citizens home.
