International observers noted the transparency of the presidential election in Belarus on January 26. More than 5 thousand polling stations were opened as part of the voting.

"Today from the very morning we decided to come and exercise our right, fulfill our duty and participate in the elections of the President of the Republic of Belarus," shared Honored Artist of Belarus Alexander Glazko.

The purity of the voting process was confirmed by more than 4 thousand international observers, who worked at polling stations across the country. Many of them arrived a few days before the election to assess the organization of the early voting procedure.

"Some say that this is a fictitious election, they say the people are being pressured, but I don't see that here," emphasized Bauer Detlef, an independent observer from Germany.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has scheduled about 30 live broadcasts with regional election commissions on Sunday, January 26, which will allow to follow the voting process in different regions in real time and receive information promptly. The polling stations will close at 20:00, by which time the approximate turnout will be known.

Earlier in the day, the incumbent president of Belarus, candidate for the post, Alexander Lukashenko, voted in the elections. He commented on the European Parliament (EP) resolution of January 21, where the deputies refused to recognize the results of the vote, saying that he's not interested in the recognition of the results by the Western countries, but it' s important that the citizens of the republic were satisfied with the results.

Polling stations for the main voting in the presidential election in Belarus opened across the country at 8:00 that day. The turnout at 12:00 was 56.64%, so they can be recognized as valid.

The candidates for the presidential election in Belarus were the incumbent leader of the country Alexander Lukashenko, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus Oleg Gaidukevich, MP Anna Kanopatskaya, leader of the Belarusian Communists Sergei Syrankov and leader of the Party of Labor and Justice Alexander Khizhnyak.
