- The State Duma will consider in February the project on the USE in Russian and mathematics in five constituent entities of the Russian Federation

The State Duma will consider in February as a priority the draft law on passing the USE only in Russian language and mathematics in five constituent entities of Russia. This was announced by the chairman of the lower house of parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin, on January 26.
The changes propose to cancel the final certification in two additional subjects, while leaving only Russian and math if a ninth-grade graduate plans to continue studying at a technical school or college.
"The pilot project will affect five regions - Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov and Tyumen regions, and the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. In case it shows its effectiveness, then in the future it is possible to spread it throughout the country," Volodin wrote in his Telegram channel.
It became known earlier, on January 17, about the introduction of a bill to the State Duma on passing in five regions only two subjects at the GCSE. Then it was specified that it is also proposed to test a new procedure for enrolling applicants for training in secondary vocational education programs at the expense of regional and local budgets.
On December 11, 2024 the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and Rosobrnadzor approved the schedule of the main state examination for 2025. Thus, the exams of the early period of the OGE in 2025 will begin on April 22, and the main period - on May 21 and 22.
Prior to that, on December 1, expert Marina Stepanova expressed the opinion that the abolition of the USE for college entrance would be difficult to implement. At the same time, she called the idea of leaving only two compulsory exams after the ninth grade a good one.
