British finance minister suggested taking an example from Trump

British Finance Minister Rachel Reeves said that American President Donald Trump is a role model in demonstrating his strengths. The words of the politician are quoted by The Times newspaper on Saturday, January 25.
During a meeting with investors at the World Economic Forum in Davos, journalists asked Reeves what she thought about Trump's "unconcealed enthusiasm", as it is this quality that results in profits for the United States. She emphasized that London should adopt this mindset from the American president.
"Yes, I think we need more positivity," Reeves stated.
As the minister noted, such an approach would allow to more actively promote the economy on the path of development and attract new investments.
The politician also emphasized that the UK should change its approach and abandon excessive politeness.
Earlier in the day, Trump said at a speech in Las Vegas that the US has significant prospects in the economy due to the large amount of oil and gas. He promised to "unlock liquid gold" and utilize these resources.
Prior to that, on January 23, Experts Canada outlined the implications for trade due to Trump's threats on tariffs. It was pointed out that while tariffs were barely mentioned in Trump's inaugural speech on Monday, any hopes of a delay were dashed hours later when he announced he could impose a 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico as early as February 1.
Earlier, on November 26, 2024, US President Donald Trump said he would impose additional 10% duties on goods from China and 25% duties on all products from Mexico and Canada. He said China had failed to fulfill a promise to impose the death penalty on fentanyl traffickers, causing "drugs to flood" into the US - mostly through Mexico - on an unprecedented scale.
