Politico reported on the first disagreements in Trump's team

In the team of US President Donald Trump there are disagreements on the issue of imposing duties. This was reported by the newspaper Politico on January 25.
"The unprecedented level of uncertainty about duties is the first and most significant example of divisions in Trump's circle on major policy positions," - stated in the publication.
According to the publication, Trump did not begin to address the issue of duties on foreign goods after his appointment, which shows his indecisiveness on the issue.
According to a source familiar with the situation, the issue of tariffs on imports should be resolved in the coming months.
Deputy Chief of Staff to the President Stephen Miller, Senior Advisor for Trade and Manufacturing Peter Navarro and nominee for Trade Representative Jamison Greer are in favor of comprehensive tariffs.
Meanwhile, other members of the team, such as Treasury Secretary and Council of Economic Advisers Chairman nominees Scott Bessent and Kevin Hassett, suggest a gradual imposition of tariffs to avoid causing panic in the markets and triggering U.S. inflation.
On inauguration day, January 20, Trump announced plans to create a foreign revenue service that would regulate duties on goods imported into the United States.
On January 22, Politico Europe reported that the European Union (EU) and the UK have prepared retaliatory measures in case Donald Trump raises duties on goods from European countries. It was specified that officials hope that they will be able to convince Trump to refuse to impose "punitive tariffs" on European products. Nevertheless, if this happens, they are ready to apply retaliatory measures.
In November last year, it became known that the EU fears that a new trade war between the countries of the association and Washington may start.
