Russian Defense Ministry shows footage of Pantsir-S SAM system in Kursk Region
Pantsir-S air defense missile and cannon systems continue to control the airspace above the positions of Russian troops in the border areas of Kursk Region around the clock. Images of combat work were published by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 25.
It is specified that the Pantsir-S SAMs repeatedly destroyed air targets of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Within the framework of combat work 12 anti-aircraft missiles were involved. In addition, the complex is equipped with two 30-millimeter double-barrel cannons with 1,400 rounds of ammunition.
The defense ministry also noted that the armament of the Pantsir-S SAM system allows it to effectively defeat any means of air attack within the established range.
"The calculations constantly change positions, and having arrived at a new place, are able to switch from duty mode to combat mode in 10 seconds," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Earlier in the day, the Defense Ministry reported that the crew of the army aviation on the helicopter Ka-52 disrupted the rotation of AFU units in the border area of Kursk region. After performing a combat mission, the pilots performed an anti-missile maneuver at low altitude and fired off heat traps, which are used to defend against strikes by Ukrainian man-portable surface-to-air missile systems.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
