Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the participants of the event dedicated to the 270th anniversary of Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) and noted that the university has become one of the symbols of the Russian Federation, which has gained prestige in the world. The corresponding telegram was published on the Kremlin website on January 25.

The Russian leader pointed out that the creation of the university is a major milestone in the history of Russia and the entire domestic system of university education.

"Moscow State University was, is and will remain the flagship of Russian higher education, embodying its best traditions, constantly improving and reaching new heights. It has become one of the symbols of Russia, has won well-deserved authority and recognition in the world," the head of state noted.

He singled out the teaching staff, calling it the pride of the university. Putin noted that among their pupils is "a whole pleiad" of outstanding cultural figures, scientists, politicians and workers who have made an invaluable contribution to the strengthening and development of Russia.

"I am confident that careful attitude to the rich heritage of predecessors, effective implementation of advanced educational programs and research approaches, implementation of promising international projects will allow the university to continue to be a leader," Putin added.

He also expressed hope that all this will help the university graduates to open new horizons, achieve success in their work and benefit the people and the country.
