Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergei Naryshkin said on January 25 that he was ready to meet with the head of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) John Ratcliffe.

"We are always ready for talks," he told TASS.

Commenting on the interaction between the SVR and the CIA, Naryshkin emphasized that Russia has an official representative in Washington, while the Central Intelligence Agency has its confidant in Moscow.

Earlier, on January 23, the upper house of the US Congress approved the candidacy of John Ratcliffe for the post of CIA director. Seventy-four senators voted in favor of his appointment, 25 against. Prior to Ratcliffe, the CIA was headed by William Burns.
