Pumping out of fuel oil from the stern of the Volgoneft-239 tanker is fully completed

The work on pumping out fuel oil from the tanks in the aft part of the tanker Volgoneft-239, which sits aground in the Krasnodar Territory, has been completed. This was announced on January 25 by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev.

"Specialists of the Morspass Service of the Ministry of Transport have finished pumping out fuel oil from the main and ballast tanks of the stern part of the tanker "Volgoneft-239", which was wrecked near Cape Panagia on December 15, 2024 earlier than planned," Savelyev said, his words are quoted in the Telegram-channel of the Russian government.

Deputy Prime Minister said that from January 19 to 25, 1,488 tons of fuel oil were pumped from the tanker into bitumen trucks, which was later transferred into 20 railroad tank cars. During the entire period, eight bitumen trucks made 87 trips.

At the moment the tanks are being stripped in order to saw and dispose of the feed part of Volgoneft-239. This project should be completed by January 30. In addition, by March 31 all works related to cutting and removal of the vessel from the shoal at Cape Panagia should be completed.
