- The Governor of Kamchatka Krai told about the progress of the inspection at the oncodispensary

Governor of the Kamchatka Territory Vladimir Solodov told Izvestia that an inspection is being carried out in the oncology dispensary where patients were infected with hepatitis B and C. He told about this on Saturday, January 25.
Solodov noted that by agreement with State Duma deputy Irina Yarovaya, federal experts are working on the site.
"I want to emphasize that this is extremely important, because our main interest is to thoroughly understand what happened, to determine all the mechanics by which the infection spread and to make sure that the safety of patients is now guaranteed. It is necessary to identify all those responsible for this situation, and this is not just one person - from medical workers who carried out manipulations with violations of sanitary requirements to the responsible manager," the governor said.
In addition, he said that following the results of internal inspection and audit of leading specialists in epidemiology and infectious diseases of the Russian Federation, a number of violations were found in the oncologic dispensary. They are related to sterilization and use of consumables, as well as procedures that required computed tomography (CT).
"It can be argued that it is they (violations. - Ed.) led to the spread of infection. Unfortunately, the action of the focus of the spread of infection was prolonged, it occurred during several months of 2024. Now the examination of all contact persons who are potentially at risk is being finalized. This is a large number, more than 4 thousand people", - stated Solodov.
He also recalled that the head of the Ministry of Health of Kamchatka, Alexander Gashkov, was fired. In addition, Solodov said that personnel measures should be immediately taken at the dispensary level.
The governor said that the whole system is used to function and perform effective work only after a court decision, the submission of a control body or the attention of the general public. He assured that such approaches will be changed.
Vladimir Chulanov, chief freelance specialist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation on infectious diseases, noted that in such institutions as oncologic dispensaries, where a large number of different manipulations are performed, it is necessary to look at the situation comprehensively.
"We, of course, analyzed everything, including we will look not only CT, but also other tools. The CT room, of course, was checked first of all, since it became the center of attention. Now all the shortcomings have been eliminated there, and patients can safely undergo examination," Chulanov said.
Earlier in the day Solodov reported that Kamchatka Health Minister Alexander Gashkov was removed from his post because of the outbreak of hepatitis in the oncology dispensary.
Earlier, on January 18, it became known that in the Kamchatka regional oncology dispensary 36 patients were infected with hepatitis B and C. An epidemiological investigation is underway on the fact of human infection. The Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Kamchatka Krai reported that a criminal case was opened under part 2 of article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("negligence").
