Fraudsters in the Tomsk region caused damage worth 1.4 billion rubles


More than 1.4 billion rubles was the damage caused by the actions of remote fraudsters in the Tomsk region. This was reported on Saturday, January 25 by the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the region in Telegram-channel.
"The main reasons for the growth of the total number of crimes is a 34% increase in the number of registered cybercrimes, (from 7176 to 9636). In 3.8 times increased the number of registered facts of unlawful access to computer information, most of which is associated with the blocking of accounts of citizens on the portal of public services (from 705 to 2653)", - noted in the department.
At the same time in the region by 11% (c 1051 to 931 cases) reduced the number of thefts from bank cards.
"Be vigilant! Do not enter into conversations with strangers, do not open extraneous files, do not follow links and do not give codes from SMS messages!", - police officers appealed to citizens.
Law enforcers also recommended to hold an educational conversation with children about the need to be vigilant when communicating in social networks and messengers.
Earlier, on January 23, a resident of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk gave more than 1.2 million rubles to fraudsters. The swindlers first introduced themselves as employees of the "social fund, and then - the Central Bank. A criminal case under part 1 of article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal access to computer information") has been initiated.
On January 24, a criminal case was instituted against two Moscow teenagers for defrauding a pensioner of 6 million rubles. They called the woman and persuaded her to transfer her savings to them, as well as to take a loan on the security of her apartment. A measure of restraint in the form of house arrest and a ban on certain actions has been chosen against the defendants.
